Greatest Intercontinental Champions Of All Time

The WWE Intercontinental Championship is my favorite championship.  As my favorite wrestler Bret "Hitman" Hart said, the Intercontinental Champion was the "work-horse" championship.  When I think of the Intercontinental Championship, I think of the wrestlers.  The people that were the Intercontinental Champion were the hardest working and some of the most talented people in professional wrestling at that time.  Some might not be agreeable, but it's my opinion.  If you disagree, let me know and I would be glad to here your opinion.  So here's my top 10 greatest Intercontinental Champions.

10. Chyna

The only woman to not only hold the IC title, but on multiple times also.  That earns her some kind of props as one of the greatest IC champs of all time.

9.  Razor Ramon

His matches with Shawn Michaels for the IC title were legendary and considered some of the greatest of all time.  And he always came out on top.  To me, not only participating in some of the greatest matches of all time for the IC title, but winning them, you deserve some kind of accolades.

8.  "Macho Man" Randy Savage

Randy Savage is considered one of the greatest of all time and the fact that he accomplished a good portion of his success as IC champ earns him accolades in my book.

7.  "Ravishing" Rick Rude

Whether you loved him or hated him, Rick Rude was one of the hardest working men in the industry at the time.  He was a mid card wrestler that main evented on occasion.  And the fact that he was IC champ for some of them means something.  Besides, he has the IC belt on his pants for crying out loud!

6.  Kane

When the WWE deactivated the IC championship, that was a sad day.  It means all the hardworking wrestlers before him were completely irrelevant and that they were ending the lineage and history of the IC title.  So the WWE decided to make the last IC champ at that time the Big Red Machine.  That is a huge feather in the cap for Kane.  Not only is Kane one of my top five favorite wrestlers of all time, he's also, in my opinion, one of the greatest IC champs of all time.

5.  Pedro Morales

Pedro Morales was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame because of what he did as IC champion.  He holds the record for the most combined days as the IC champion too.  To me, having the IC title more days than anyone in history and being inducted into the H.O.F. as IC champ is enough on my list.

4.  Honky Tonk Man

The Honky Tonk Man has the longest single IC championship reign in history.  The man had held the title for one year, two months and 27 days.  He was undefeated for that long, beating some of the greatest wrestlers of all time in that time frame.  The Honky Tonk Man deserves a place on ANY IC championship countdown.

3.  Bret "Hitman" Hart

He is my all time favorite wrestler.  Number one of all time, according to me.  He was the hardest working, most talented wrestler when he was on top.  And when I think he was in the prime of his career was when he was the IC champion.  When Bret Hart was IC champion, in my opinion, that title meant more than the WWE Championship.

2.  "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig

There are some things that go hand in hand.  Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.  Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees.  Mr. Perfect and the IC championship.  There was very few people that personified what it took to be IC champion, and Mr. Perfect was the personification of the IC title.

1.  Chris Jericho

Mr. Perfect may have been the personification of the IC title back in the day, but to me, Chris Jericho is of all time.  He's respected both with the fans and his peers as one of the most talented, hardest working and charismatic wrestlers of all time.  He's a self made man that has brought him to one of the greatest wrestlers ever.  He's made wrestlers as IC champion.  In my opinion, William Regal's greatest feud in the WWE was with Chris Jericho for the IC title.  Chris Jericho is what an IC champion should strive to be.
